Our trip to Idaho

The two weeks in Idaho went by fast! We really had a lot of fun. My grandparents celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, so not only did I get to see all of my siblings and their children, but lots of cousins, aunts and uncles too.

Connor and Ella played to their heart's content with all 14 of their cousins.

Kiddo-isms

Looking out the window early one cold November morning,

Ella announced:

"There is FROSTING on top of the CAR!"

Early morning, election day:

"Ella, go get dressed...we are going to the polls to vote."

Ella runs to find Connor, announcing:

"Connor, Connor, quick, get dressed 'cause Dad says we are going to the NORTH POLE on a BOAT!!!"

Ella asked "Mom, can I have some gum?"

"No."

"Why?"

"You don't need to have gum everyday. Sometimes we have gum and sometimes we don't..."

A few days later:

"Ella, did you clean up your toys?"

"No"

"Why not?"

"Way-ell, sometimes we clean up an...sometimes...we don't."

Clever, very clever.

Ella, 20 minutes after saying good night:

"Mom, I can't go to sleep.

I have tried 3 times...

'ax-chew-ly' 5 times

an I just can't go to sleep.

-sigh-

I just can't go to sleep."

"Ella, we don't eat frogs"

After taking the toy frog

out of her mouth she said

"I don't eat frogs, I eat SNAKES!"

"Yucky, Ella, snakes are yucky"

To which she replied

"Do they have onions in them?"

Connor: "Is it time to go yet?"

Ella, with a sigh: "No...mom is still milkin' Owen."

-----------------------------------

Mom: "You should leave your toy in the car Ella"

Ella: "I pomise I won't lose it. I willy pomise mom"

Connor: "You should listen to mom, Ella so you don't lose your toy."

Ella, in a very motherly voice: "Connor...don't argue with me."

All finished with the trash?

"Yep" Connor says.

Did you put trash bags back in the trash cans?

"Well...I decided that that wasn't as important as emptying the trash, so I just emptied and didn't put bags back in."

Oh...I see.

Allen said to Ella, "Are you my princess?"

"Yep" she said "I an a princess, Connor is Superman, Mommy a princess jussa like-a me and you, Daddy, you are...the BAD GUY!" Giggle giggle giggle

Ella said with a very big frown "Mom, I don't have a life!"

She was referring to her breakfast cereal...she wasn't quite sure why I couldn't keep a straight face.

While riding in the car listening to the radio, he asked in all sincerity,

"Why is there only fresh new music on Mondays?"

Connor: Mom can I have another carrot.

Mom: No wait until dinner. It is almost ready.

Connor: PLEEEEASE

Mom: I said no. Dinner will be ready in two minutes. Don't ask again.

Dad: Connor, what does that mean when mom says that.

Connor (still convinced he was gonna get another carrot): I had better eat the carrot real fast.

While walking home, Connor asked,

"Mom, after this longcut can we find the shortcut?"

Connor: Why aren't my feet asleep?

Dad: They still have blood flowing to them.

C: giggle What does that mean?

D: Your blood carries nutrients and oxygen to your feet and that is what keeps them awake.

C: Phhh Da-ad, that is something you only talk to grown ups about.
